Awesome Tent. May 25, 2011
By  Megan Ashley
This tent is really great! Had it for a month now. I'll just list pro's and cons to keep this review simple:
PROS
1 - Large! Lots of room and tall enough to stand!
2 - Roof vents! Keeps it cool.
3 - Large windows, front area towards the door is mostly screened - very nice!
4 - Fairly waterproof right out of the bag. Did not waterproof and left it out in a storm where we got 50mm of rain! (yes, 50!! It was coming down harder than I have ever seen... hail included.) There was only a very small (about a tbsp) puddle of water by one side.
5 - Seams are taped, fabrice is of good quality.
6 - Poles are very sturdy.
7 - SETS UP IN NO TIME! I am a 24 year old girl and did it by myself for the first time without reading instructions in 56 second (watched some videos on youtube before purchasing :))

Good summer tent, April 16, 2012
By  Randy G.
Good warm weather tent. I would buy the rainfly, but I have another water proof tent, so I didn't. This tent vents well with all of the windows and the roof vent. It's so easy to set up that my wife had it up in minutes with my 5 year old daughter "helping". In the past, setting up the tent has caused some scuffles in the family, but not with this. Good value if you're not braving the elements. Stay away if you need cold weather or heavy rain protection.

great value for money, easy setup, February 11, 2012
By  mikedoble
I started searching for a new tent after a camping trip recently. I had a fairly cheap 10 person tent, that is considered easy to set up. It actually takes about 35 minutes, but its a great tent. The setup time however was a pain, and often put me off one or two night trips. I tracked down the coleman one and carried out research. I also considered the Oztent one, but that is $1000 in Australia. Including post to Australia, the coleman was $240 AUD. Bargain!!!
As soon as it arrived ( 4 days later all the way to Adelaide) we took it out of the box, went into the garden, and 90 seconds later the thing was up, first time. ( excluding pegging it out)

It has a loop to hang your lantern, in the centre of the ceiling, the ventilation flaps have little props to keep them open for night time air flow. it is very roomy for a fast setup tent. I love it, even though we haven't used it yet...

Coleman will back their warranty, February 2, 2012
By  Carolyn Weyer

I just got a replacement tent and a fly promised I would get from Coleman consumer service. It is a long story why my tent purchased needed to be replaced. I will say from experience the instant tent is well worth buying. Getting the new fly being offered for certain models of the instant tent makes this tent even more desirable to own. I can't wait until spring or maybe a trip south next month to use this new tent. Hey if you have some time one day check out the sister sites Coleman has. There is numerous versions of the instant tent I assume made for the countries they are being sold in. I like the Coleman Australian site as well as others. Have a good one folks. I am going to set up the new tent and check out how it looks with the new fly.

 Coleman Instant Tent 8 Person

The Coleman 8-person Instant Tent is the great option for those campers who want to spend little time setting up the tent. The main feature of this model of Coleman tent is that the poles are pre-attached and so you will be ready to build it in less than a minute. It is that quick and simple! There are 7 reverse angle windows and 2 doors which give you best ventilation. This also allows campers to enjoy a full view around the campground.

The center height of this camping tent is 6 feet 5 inches and as a result the roof won't be a obstacle to taller campers. To protect people, the Coleman Instant Tent is made with the Exclusive WeatherTec system that comes with a coated polyester fabric with zippers anti-wicking thread to maintain the rain out, and added webbing. The tent also has thick water resistant walls and welded floor which perform great during rainy days. This outdoor tents will be constantly dry. The outside of this Coleman tent is distinct from the regular Coleman tent fabric. It is tough and long lasting and has durable 150D construction for total endurance. This camping tent comes with an indoor gear pocket, a durable storage bag and a one year limited warranty.

The Coleman Instant Tent 8 was greatly appreciated by most of the reviewers. They were genuinely amazed by how quickly it can be built. The reviewers also felt pleased with its capability to keep the interiors dry in heavy thunderstorms. It had amazed campers a great deal that one person named it a Tent on Steroids.

Some reviewers mentioned that the tent's metal L shaped tent pegs were substandard during really windy days. One individual also said that because of the lack of rainfly the roof was not ventilated. Regardless of this the Coleman tent had amazed lots of reviewers and was regarded as the best tent for a family.

The Coleman Instant Tent is an incredibly large family tent that lets 8 people sleep pleasantly. It protects everybody from heavy rain and strong wind conditions. The impressive point of this tent is that it can be assembled within a minute or less. The Coleman 8-person Instant Tent is undoubtedly worth the purchase..

Quick and Easy June 5, 2011

Who likes complicated and confusing?
When I go camping, the "setting up & taking down" of my tent is the part that sucks. Really sucks.
This tent is amazing. The day it showed up, I took it out of the box and set it up (just me - no one helping) in under a minute (not counting the stakes)!!
You just unfold it, extend the legs, and walk in. How awesome is that?
Don't believe me? Check Youtube. Type in "Instant Tent", look for the one with a girl in a bright yellow KOA shirt. That's the video that sold me on this tent.

It has LOTS of ventilation. the 2 sides have a large window, the back has a HUGE window. The front has a window in the door, and a window next to the door. Did I mention there are two roof vents? Yup. The roof vents have zippers on them, and a rigid "prop" thing. There's velcro on the top flap, on the top of the prop, and on the bottom of the prop (the bottom of the prop is sewn to the tent as well). You can open the roof vents from the inside by...Read Full Review.

Solid Car Camping Tent, May 18, 2012
By L Myers
I bought this tent after reading a number of reviews and watching some videos on YouTube; I'll say with confidence it holds up to its promise. A no-frills, insanely quick setup tent that is perfect for taking on the road or a weekend-long stint at any established campground site. It really is as simple as pulling the center piece up and the already attached arms out and it's up!

Roomy, great footprint and, as others have noted, the high sidewalls mean great height throughout the interior. Not having to stoop over anywhere in the tent is just plain awesome. We're planning to put two full-size cots and a dog bed in here on a regular basis and there's more than enough room for all three and gear.

I'm giving it 4 stars only because there are some...Read Full Review

Weathers the Storm!!!, June 19, 2011
By  B. Grayless
I live in "Tornado Alley" in the Midwest, Kansas City area. If you don't know, we get some of the worst possible thunderstorms here that you could possibly imagine. 80+ mph winds, torrential downpours, low and VERY LOUD thunder and lightening. It feels like the roof of your house is going to blow off, as it creaks and moans the entire night during the storm.

We had one of these storms this past weekend, and I was camping in it with two of my little girls. And of course, I had my Coleman Instant Tent on it's maiden voyage. I knew we'd have bad weather, so I set a heavy duty tarp under the tent, partially to keep the water away from the tent, but also to protect the tent floor from wear. It was a typical hot and sticky midwest summer evening. Then about 2 AM, the winds came howling in at gale forces of 50 mph (according to the weather service), followed by EXTREMELY loud and heavy rain and thunder. The wind was blowing so crazily that it was hitting the tent from every different direction. Not one square inch of the tent exterior had any chance of staying dry. The rain and thunder continued for the next 5 or so hours with continued moments of VERY heavy rain and winds.

I am very pleased to say that we stayed totally dry and the tent...

Dry as a bone tent camping! July 25, 2009
By A.Blair
I've camped for many years, first as a Girl Scout and then as an adult. My husband had never camped, let alone in a tent. I took him out in this tent to a National Forest campground in the Shenendoah mountains, and it rained steady for a week. This tent saved the vacation. The middle room served as our dining and rec center, providing ample space for our small camp table where we ate and played cards. The screened porch was a perfect vestibule, and on sunny days it's a great place to relax, nap, read and escape from the bugs. The sleeping room is perfect for two adults and a queen-sized air bed. The middle room will comfortably sleep an entire family, or serve as the "living room", gear room, work room, etc. It has a high ceiling with a loop for hanging a light. The over-cover and Coleman construction make this the driest tent I've ever experienced. After a week of steady rain, not one seep, weep or drip.

It's big!... and yet not... August 17, 2010
By sh00bie
I bought this tent to use at a week-long star-party, so "practical" and "carry-in" weren't objectives. What WERE objectives were that it had to be big enough for all my gear, had to be relatively reliable and well equipped, and it had to be big enough that I could move around in it with my 6'2" figure without developing a hunch.

Naturally when buying camping gear I ran to Coleman. It's clear that the brand has moved far away from the mostly American-made products to overseas (China) manufacturing, so that was a little disappointing. However it probably worked in my favor since I could get more product for less $$.

Okay, so about the tent...Read More

Helpful Tips For Choosing a Tent

In past articles we’ve mentioned how to choose a tent based on concerns of climate and number of persons that will be sleeping inside it. In the following paragraphs we’ll look at different types of camping tents.

You will discover many different outdoor tents styles available to choose from. Frame camping tents, ridge camping tents, dome camping tents, geodesic camping tents, vis-a-vis camping tents, hoop camping tents and traveling camping tents.

When you see a hiking tent you will probably instantly think of the cub scouts or of old military camping tents. Ridge camping tents are spacious on top. Due to their structure the most headroom is instantly down the heart of the tents. This hiking tent is kept down by guy ropes and pegs. They are very easy to set up.

Frame camping tents like the Coleman WeatherMaster 10  are the type that most family members use. They provide much internal space. They are durable and have a durable frame of light and portable posts. These camping tents are held down by guy ropes and pegs. Some of these camping outdoors tents provide individual rooms making them nice for family camping trips.

Hoop tents like the Coleman Max Tent as suggested by the name founded by a sequence of two or three hoops that provide the tents it’s framework. It forms a tube when you put it together. These camping tents are generally light and portable and very easy to set up. They are well-known with hikers and not recommended for very windy conditions. They may also need staking.

Vis-a-vis tents are favored with family and group campers. What they do is offer individual sleeping places on either end of the tent with a shared living area in the center, creating some privacy. There are two bedroom and four bedroom models.

Initially, don't purchase a tent you are not able to get into. Go to a sporting goods store, see the tent in person. Make sure you can stand up in it, place a sleeping bag on it, lie down on the floor, and imagine how many people will be sleeping in it. Also, skilled campers will explain to you that you can cut the amount of people the manufacturer recommends will be comfortable in the tent by Half. If they say it’s a 6 person tent most likely it’ll be most comfortable for 3 people. In addition, you have to take into consideration the amount of equipment that you’ll be taking on the trip that you’ll want to put in the tent.

Helpful Tips For Choosing A Tent:

So you have chosen to camp outdoors. You’ve examine out the campgrounds that are approved by the ACA or United states Camping Organization and KOA or Kampgrounds of The united states. Now you need to choose how much you want to “rough it”. Are you remaining in an RV, or a pop up camper? Perhaps you are taking a journey on a trailer. Much too “luxe” for you, you say. You’re a actual man and all you need is a getting to sleep in a sleeping bag or a outdoor tent. Well, the Coleman Max tent might be the one for you.

Choosing a outdoor tents for camping is the first process for any camping  journey. What type of weather are you anticipating? Always be ready for the toughest, rainfall, wind flow, and cold. There are three period and four period tents available. Four period camping  tents are bulkier than three period camping  tents. They usually have more posts than three period camping outdoors tents to help them hold up against wind flow and snowfall fall. Of course, most of us are reasonable climate travelers. A three period outdoor tent will be fine for us. So, now, what style of Coleman tents do you want?

What style of outdoor tents you want may rely on how much hiking you are going to do. If you are a pack backer  the Coleman Max instant tent is perfect for a hiker that wants to keep his pack as light as possible. A tarp outdoor tents may be the one for you, or if you are camping outdoors in summer a light and portable summer outdoor tents may work.

If you are the type of person who prefers to “rough it” at a drive up camping  place then the weight of a outdoor tents will not be a problem for you. You will probably be more worried with how many individuals will be sharing your tent. A two man tent will most likely be unpleasant for two huge grownups and all their things. Those with camping outdoors knowledge say that you will want to look the Cloeman WeatherMaster Tent for at least 30 sq ft of floor space area per person. They say that you should split the number of individuals a outdoor tents says is it’s potential by two. If you are taking the kids, you definitely want to look into a bigger style of tents like the Coleman Hampton Tent. You’ll want a huge place within your tent, especially as you may encounter some rough climate and have the kids in the tent for a long time. It would be awesome if they had an place to play their games.

Before you consider buying a camping tent go to your area camping retail outlet where you can actually see the camping tents set up. Move around in it. Sit in it. Stand up in it.  We just bought the Coleman Hampton Family Cabin today and set it up at home to check it out. My husband is 6'3" so he really prefers a tall tent and we have children so we have always had large "cabin style" tents. We thought we had found a great one, unfortunately, we decided we will return it tomorrow. I will try to explain the reasons why below to best help the next person interested in buying a large and tall family tent. Since we will not be camping in it, my review is based solely on interior/exterior features, design, ease of set up, etc.

First I will tell you what type of tent are replacing because this is what I am comparing my new tent to (for better or worse). We had a Columbia Cougar Flats family cabin style tent for 5 years that finally met it's demise. While I LOVED every feature of this tent (gear loft, cup holders, corner shelving, attached zippered room dividers) and exterior durability was great(seams/waterproofness/etc.), the zippers finally failed. So this was and is my only complaint about the Columbia Cougar Flats tent. I'm still not sure if it was a faulty product or that we had little kids ripping in and out of the tent for 5 years on A LOT of camping trips. I might go back and purchase the Cougar Flats II after setting up the Coleman Hampton family cabin this evening...Read More Reviews

Helpful Tips For Choosing a Tent

Purchasing family camping tents could be really tricky if you don't have all the data necessary to indicate that it is a good choice. Buying family camping tents actually means planning ahead for a trip, which means that there are several options to choose like a Coleman 4 person tent, or Coleman cabin tents, not to mention the prevention of the possible mishaps. Here are a few tips to consider when looking for camping Tents.

Good family camping tents should have enough room for every family member. Thus, you need to consider the Coleman Hampton Tent. You need a tent around twenty five square feet for every adult and half this floor space for a child. This means that if there are four members in the family, the family camping tents that meet your requirements should be at least eight square feet in size.

The most popular camping tents are the umbrella types that fold quite neatly and take very little storing space in the trunk. Moreover, such models like the Coleman Max Tent weigh very little – not more than forty pounds – which makes them easy to carry and highly suitable for most users. Last but not least, the perfect material for umbrella tents is nylon.

Then, other features to check when looking at a variety of Coleman family camping tents are windows and openings that allow for a good ventilation of the inside. The Coleman Hampton Tent is a good choice. The thing with tents is that they need to let enough air to enter inside while keeping insects out. Moreover, the “windows” of the tent should close during storms for instance. Another detail that should not be overlooked is the size and the importance of the awning.

The seams of the family tents are very important too as they give you a clue about the quality of the product that you are buying. Thus, most seams should have double stitches and up to ten such stitches per inch. The best waterproofing and extra-durability system is the one with the material folded back on itself. These is the so-called lap felled tent design and it is available with most good quality family camping tents.

Last but not least, you should know that the most advanced models have extra stitching at the stress corners. You can check the quality of the camping tents before the trip as such by setting the tent up in the yard and dousing it with a hose in order to see whether there are any leaks at the seams. Fortunately this will not be the case!
